Supporting a Stronger Future for Independence
I am running for an At-Large City Council seat here in Independence. As a veteran, president of the Jackson County Animal Welfare Committee, and member of the Board of Adjustment, I know how important servant leadership is to building stronger communities. I look forward to earning the votes of the hard-working people who call Independence home and hope to continue serving you as your councilman.
Having already worked with community members to overturn the ban on certain breeds of dogs and establish our state’s first Animal Cruelty Task Force, I know we can work together to build a brighter future for our city. As your councilman, I will fight to ensure Independence is affordable, safe, and a city on the rise.
For too many, housing is out of reach or insecure, making establishing roots here an unattainable dream. We must work more closely with nonprofits, developers, and state and federal agencies to ensure affordable housing is available to those living on the edge of homelessness.
We all know a loved one who has struggled with addiction. We’ve seen the toll it takes on their body, personalities, and those closest to them. The grip that addiction holds can seem inescapable, and the fear of getting the phone call saying they’re no longer with us can consume our every thought. We have to ensure that this city can provide the resources needed to get folks clean and back on their feet.
As other cities in Jackson County continue to outpace growth here, it’s time we take a stand and invest in our parks, business districts, and community programs. Independence is a great city with a rich history, but we’ve taken a back seat when it comes to attracting private investment, allowing others to tell our story. It’s time we set a course for this city that invests in its people with a thriving small business community, top-tier accessible parks, and community programs that are available to everyone.
If you’re ready to breathe new life into this city, please join me by following me on social media, signing up to volunteer for my campaign telling others, and donating.
I look forward to seeing you on the doors and working hard for your vote!
